Hi, I have been given a Toshiba Satellite S3000-514 back by a disgruntled former colleague. Unfortunately they have set the bios p/word and W2k passwords.

When I start the machine up it allows me to presse C to force CD boot then asks for password etc. I have tried the Parralel port password resetter dongle thingy which doesnt seem to work.

Does anyone know if I can remove an internal battery or set jumpers to reset the BIOS password? Is so how do I get to them??

I have tried searching for info on service manuals but as per previous post they seem to be hard to come by !!

If anyone could help or even let me know what m/board is in the machine it would be much appreceated

Thanks

Most of the Toshiba Models have the Bios battery solderd to the board so this task of desoldering is not for the novice.

Have you tried this page.

If you make a simple device that you connect to your parallel port, a lot of Toshiba computers remove the password when you boot it up. The device, named "loopback" by some, could be made out of any parallel wire with 25pins connectors. You should connect these pins:

1-5-10,
2-11,
3-17,
4-12,
6-16,
7-13,
8-14,
9-15

if that not work, then make eeprom dump and send me it..

Yes, how did you do it?

I have a Toshiba Portege 7100 laptop, and the password was set in BIOS long before I arrived here. Now I have a laptop which I can't get into, and therefore can't give to any of our staff.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1555CDS that was locked with a BIOS password. I did this "looping" as you showed, but that did something to the hard drive. Yes I can get into DOS but it's not recognizing my hard drive so this machine is virtually useless at the moment. I'm working on 2 Toshiba laptops , both with problems (for different reasons). Once you disable the BIOS password with this procedure, how do you recover the BIOPS/CMOS settings ???
